News Approaching Bow Abuse

Hi, I have some things that requires attention but certainly has no one simple solution. Throughout the time players have learned that sharpshooter's bow can be quite abused deadly, they can curve the very difficult bossing due to the fact superior range they provide. They literally obliterate and destroy the meaning of bossing and importance of whether if you can defeat such boss.

First idea would be to increase those bosses' seek range/fighting range but unfortunately it means bosses will behave quite differently and your common bossing tactics will not be necessarily same, which places it into unoriginal feeling of TOP.

Secnd idea would be unfavorable but remove the bonus range on those bows so the bug is gone for real. But that means you lose that once had benefit in PK or legitimately bossing.

How am I suppose to prevent abuse without changing the old feelings? Even if I prevented bow damaging kraken, it wouldn't help with B2 as you'd legitimately use bow with B2 so I can't prevent B2.
 
Is there any way to just reduce the range of bow ss in Dw ?
 
Or is there a way to improve a monster's aggro range? If there is, itd be nice to have dw b2's aggro improved by a few pixels, just so bow ss cannot corner-bug it.

About kraken, i think keeping it the same way is fine. I used to sell kraken's kill in my server in original ToP (i used to solo it with several voy alts) and i can tell you Bow ss bug is almost impossible to get working at kraken (might work 1 out of 100 tries.. And it doesnt just stay there like dw b2 does), and we wont have any OP ss in this server for quite a long time, most of em will probably be tanked by kraken anyway

However i dont think reducing the bow's range would be a good thing... Coz thats the point of being a bow ss as you already said. A bow ss with the same range as any attacker would be rendered useless and pointless xD

  2. Increasing B2 aggro is one way but it also means the boss will have different behavior, WHY? because he will always end up chasing and then going back, over and over. Never attacking. It's not ideal to make aggro higher than return-range. Trust me I know.

I never said it doesnt work, ive got it to work a few times myself. I am just stating its a so hard to do bug in this case and that it isnt as effective as dw since kraken wont just stay there until it's death... It will run back from time to time and u gotta redo it xD

And about 2. Ouch.... Youre right in this one, forgot about the return part. The return factor cannot be modified at all?
 
leave it as is, it's part of the game mechanics :)
 
IMO, I think this subject shouldn't be touched, why? because SS isnt a strong class compared to any other class, its squishy and is eaten up by crusaders(worst feeling btw), SS's best point is that its the best at bossing, it has a long range to bug them, has seals to seal them... and is a requirement to do most bosses.
 
tbh i dont think bow SS will be an issue in the first couple of months, you will have time to think on what to do

I see completely opposite, In this server you cannot boss but you can abuse bosses, bow is exactly what will permit players to kill the unkillable bosses.
 
Agree with most of people here. Let them bug it if they want to. B2 will be such a huge thing in this server that no SS will ever be able to stay there for long. And no SS will have big enough max on bow to take it down quickly. Maybe it might be an issue after like 1-2 years, but for now I wouldn't care about that much.
As you already stated yourself, changing aggro ranges would change the whole gameplay around bossing, as most of strategies just wouldn't work anymore. I really don't think Bow SS bugging bosses ever has been an issue. That's kinda only thing Bow SS is good at, lol.

I have to agree with Ameen, I would just leave it as it is.

Bowers are very squishy and they end up taking a risk by going to B2 and soloing it. When I was a crus, I would just wait until the SS make b2 5% then I'd kill SS and finish B2. so, it's not always rainbows and sunshine for bowers.

SS always was an abused class for bossing and auto farming(botting) if you can fix these in your game that will give people the chance to explore the best parts of SS and not just click and watch... SS have the many seals for a reason.....! XD a pro player can easily do the boss without bugging it

This game shouldn't be able to be solo'd it is more fun to play as a team and of course, doing the boss as a team.
 
Yeah it's not that efficient anyways and kind of risky. I always thought it was pretty useless.
 
Make cha unable to attack specific targets when using a bow, no?
 
Didn't think you'll get to that. That was main reason wh I was bow SS
 
any form to increase the bosses resistance to bow attacks? without affecting other classes and gun SS
