Introduction:
Recently the new server Portal Royal has opened its gates and every sharpshooter I see is using essentially the same boring gun build. They put themselves into a position, where they can't effectively put out damage and are basically "sealbots" in pk scenarios. The reason why noone is making use of bow skills is probably a lack of knowledge and inspiration, which is why I want to shortly present a bow focused skill build, that is effective and fun to play in PvE as well as PvP.
Skills at lvl 65:
10
Range Mastery
10
Dual Shot
6
Windwalk
5
Frozen Arrow
1
Rousing
5
Cripple
10
Enfeeble
10
Meteor Shower
Skill Order:
Max Dual Shot -> get lvl 4 Windwalk and put 1 point into Rousing -> max out Range Mastery and get lvl 5 Frozen Arrow -> max out Enfeeble -> max out Meteor Shower
Alternatively you can keep range mastery at a low level and put those points into Windwalk, Frozen Arrow and Headshot.
Why this build is good:
- Compared to a traditional gun ss build, you don't have to save skillpoints pre 2nd class promotion, which makes leveling at this stage a lot easier.
- Power in numbers: this build shines in pvp situations when you play with other sharpshooters who use this build. A well coordinated meteor shower by multiple ss can do serious damage.
- You are a burst caster with longer range than a gun focused ss. While their damage comes from right clicks, which they can't walk up for in a guild vs guild setting, your damage is based on cooldowns and comes out very quickly.
- Despite focusing on bow skills, you can still permanently cripple regular monsters and players and perform the "sealbot" role while your bow skills are on cooldown.
Why this build is bad:
- You have less max attack than a gun ss, since you didn't put any points into gun mastery.
- PvE and PvP require a lot of micro actions, because you permanently have to switch between gun and bow.
- You only get access to Magma Bullet at a very high lvl.
Conclusion:
If you are bored of using the same 2 skills every time and being scared to walk up and actually do damage, I suggest you try out this build. It requires a lot of skill to be played effectively and is extremely fun when done so. As I mentioned above, this build shines when paired with other ss that use this skillpath, which is why I think it's important that people know about it and quite frankly, this is the way sharpshooters are supposed to be played in a fresh server.
Thanks for reading!
