We're losing players everyday

hey there, I love this game too. but admit it, this game is outdated. that's a fact. Im sure what's bringing you all back are those lingering affections from past days.

I see this server tries to accommodate two totally different groups (hardcores and newbies) at the same time, which is impossible in my opinion. forget about the newbies shall we? newbies will judge this game based on mmorpg today.. so don't put too much focus on them. It's rare for them to like this old game, anyway. forget them (though I think Sotto's idea to make guide link in interface is brilliant, make it slightly more newbie-friendly)

Now. to keep veterans in game, I think hexa is very important to be weekly event. Zankza, if you were a player, you should've realized from the start that this is the most loved event for all people! lower the exp gain or randomise it within a set of numbers is fine. I think simple twist like making more alternative routes is the best and make it creatively!,
e.g.
instead of sending letter to that shai npc, system randomise who to send to, say to babul haven, or to solace haven, make people walk around the 3 maps, ha!
For sashimi, ore, and wood. keep it as is, but change the receiver! say, deliver this to random npc and report after delivery to that physician at argent.
instead of boring and dull party of lv31 and lv21 players, change it to plvl player lv21-39 you can find for 1 lvl! for higher rewards you need more contribution to lower levels! yes!!
and so on.

I think we can be so creative with what is inside the hexa itself, without changing the nostalgic feel and excitement to wait for hexa each weekends :p



that's a really bad idea pal... -1. Think about the low lv players. I think is already enought with Hexa being an ocasional event..
 
I think this game have a lot of potential, but as much as people believe they want Vanilla, they really dont.. Its all because of a good memories we used to experience in first few years of top. So many adventures exploring new maps and bosses, trying out crazy stuff such as "How would +5 staff look like with fiery and shadow gems forged?". What I'm trying to point out here- we do want a hard server, we really do, but we have tried out everything in private servers, +13 eq etc. There have to be some changes, because human nature would never be interested in exploring something, that already been done before. Its just my thoughts, but we have a lot of great maps and bosses, also quests. Why cant you upgrade some useless quests (Andes forest npc's etc) which gives 100g gold to something useful for low level players like mini amps, and like 20k gold. I also believe story quest ending should be way more interesting, something really good, so people would be very motivated to do it. Our wonderful spring/ summer/ autumn bosses should drop normal pet fruits with low drop rate, would be great to see parties ksing each other. That's where friends and enemies are created. (which is what we need) Personally I've always been interested in Underwater and Seabed tunnels, they do connect all the islands and have interesting mobs, make them drop something like OSS with low drop rate. Autumn mobs stats also should be changed to become a great island to lvl up. I think every map needs a reasonable meaning for people to use it.

Anyway.. all this- just random ideas to open player minds for creative ideas. We have a talented GM, i believe he can create anything in this game, why not to use it? :D

P.S. together we can make this a great game to play!

i got an idea that might be useful now.

we should introduce weekend lunch, where players log in for a certain amount of time to get rewards.

level 45-54
level 55-64
and 65+

it might be abuse able with alts that's why rewards shouldn't be anything OP.

like level 65+ can get level 2 bags and some rations + pet fruit(which changes every week) at best.
i think the problem is that new players need an easier way to level to the old players to put up a fight.
and i saw that some people complaining that they want a free way to level pets since it cost a lot of money just to log into the game. reputation exchange is still a good idea too.

and finally having something like weekend lunch forces people to login and really the more people coming back to get these free essential but not OP items will revive the server i think :P like just getting people to log in and stay online for 3 or 5hours will make them love the game again <3

Great ideas, truly. I have also considered this game to hold so much potential. Of course what goes on my mind would greatly deviate from the vanilla path, but Thundoria should be the main city, and quests shouldn't be useless. In most quests the time you use going out of your way to do them and going back to the npc would render you more exp if you just stayed killing monsters on the same region. Haven quests with useful rewards like Vessel Deed voucher, mini amps and chance of lv15-35 equips with bonus would also motivate new players to actually do them. Exploring the different maps should be encouraged, but now its mostly just a waste of time. Pet fruits droping from monsters on a reasonable % would also be good. Not too low or killing it won't be worth it, but not too high that it'll make them worthless.

That's a wonderful idea, changing the drops of different maps to make people more invested in acting as a group. In the end of the day, if we don't have a group of friends, we're likely to leave.

I don't think that will work, people already do log in, but they log in, set a stall and then leave. We're not lacking afk people who are just there to get some money in case they become interested again. We lack active people walking around town, leveling in the mines, coming to mazes.

A thing that might help is making pvp events. PvP is great, people used to love it back in ToP 1, and then they ruined everything when they created pk maps where you don't lose honor, don't know ur enemy, u just walk around killing and getting killed.

We could have pvp events divided by levels: MvM 45-54, MvM 55-64, MvM 65+ (just an example). Of course a lot of decisions would have to be made. Like not allowing more than 2 of the same class in the same party. Or parties being created by the GM instead of by the palyers, etc. But it might bring people back for some harmless pk.

Prizes wouldn't have to be much, maybe a stack of FB and TS for the party who wins. I think people would participate.

People are giving a lot of ideas to revilatize the game, @Zankza, please save the server D:
 
No, no, no, god no. Nobody does hexa for fun (maybe you :p), ppl do hexa for lvs, low investiment and big payoff, mass riots would occur if ppl took the whole week preparing for it and on the event day they are sent to the other side of the world and instead of doing 4-5 hexas they barely do 1. And forget about the newbies? Are you serious? Do you realize newbies are the ones who buy stuff in stalls most of the times? Without newbies amps of strive\luck wouldnt be sold, mini amps, low lv rings, low tier gems, most apparels, low lv pets, outdated equipment, skeletar-inca-evanescence chests, basically most of what is sold. And we would have no new players, and I can assure you playing with the very same people gets boring REALLY quick.

as Sotto has said, what I meant is players who never played before. I did invited my high school friends to play pko. and they lasted not more than 30mins.. complaining the graphics, boring songs, not exciting animations, pure grind, etc.

well, Im just sharing idea in extreme way, maybe too controversial for you guys sorry for that.. the main point is, you can be creative with what is inside of it. by random i mean not totally random npc, but few (2 alternative) selected npc that can be announced before hexa starts. this way it can also encourage people to look at forum. we can make monthly theme for hexa, like this month is exploration of Shaitan. items needed are the same, just different npc to deliver it.

that's a really bad idea pal... -1. Think about the low lv players. I think is already enought with Hexa being an ocasional event..

but there's so much untapped features of this game we have yet to see :O

i think the game needs to move into the next phase XD we want to do rebirth we want to go winter island and keeping the game hardcore and 1x all at the same time.
black dragon pk and small things like that which people need to be organised in a guild.
and to get there the level 70 cap needs to be removed and level up to 70 should some how seem easier.
that's why events where bags lvl 1-2-3 are available might help achieve this.
there are a lot of people reaching 65+ and then realising there isn't much more to the game anymore. :(
 
@Vandal02 what I ment is Hexa being an ocasional event is already bad. If the quest itself change and becomes more harder would be worse

I agree, a lot of people ask me questions in-game and many don't even know about the forum
 
+1 for the weekly luch (Every saturday or sunday)
but i would make it diferent and not only stay logged
Example
45-55 : kill xx random mobs: reward 20 rations
56-66: kill xx random mobs: reward bag, ration or whatever.
67+ : kill autumn or summer boss (or xxx mobs) and get pet fruits or bags

you have only 3 hours to complete them

What I see going on is the server seems to have to many peeps, newbies have options to lvl up,,>join a pt,not always easy, pay for lvls,or solo, many will solo, but at this point its kind of tough to do so when full party's with a ray happy voy comes through and cleans the whole area of mobs,,a 2nd server I believe would help,but only if you transfer half from here to the new one,,,ive said a few times in the past month we have to bring back mentor system,people need a reason to help,not everyone is kind,the only way to give non mallers the choice to buy mall stuff is to go back to the way it was in fox lv,with the ISGP,POINT THING AGAIN,i have no issue with that but that those empowered mobs that give the points cant be near any edge as they will be camped on,,it has to be very random,,i think fox lv had it all right but the 3soc and faster exp,,,I would bring back it all but keep it 1x exp,and 2 soc,i agree with the post that said newbies keep the game alive,without them ,or non mallers ,your left with 100 mallers with no one to buy stuff,one cant go on without the other,lvl 1 through 20 is dirt easy to solo if you keep at it,its 20 to 40 that takes some effort, mentors don't help now as there is no reward ,this I think is very important to bring back, yes it will be exploited ,but its a necessary evil
 
Hi, i just returned from a long time without playing due internet issues, now with fiber connected i can play at my max, still i see things are problematic, its true about mentor diciple rewards, and to make sure everyone knows this game is full of players who will abuse on anything that gives a reward... ofcourse i count myselfs in, i mean its great to get rewards, its the only way to push yourselfs into good items or easy gold, always been a cooker, but no people to buy them, and lot of other players who do the same, offert:high demand:low no sustain into it.
A) Exp event every day for about 30min every 4 hours one week out of 4 would bet a lot better for new comers and not easy to abuse for old high lv players.
B) GOOD and i really mean it, GOOD events, to drop pet fruits or simply to collect ingame time in a week or so alike free lunch for pet fruit lets say 1 per account for 12h a week lets say, might turn more afk players and ofcourse afk stall musnt count them, but provides a way for new players to obtain and sustain their pets, and lets be sure the thing fairy box is only mall able sucks.
C) FFC: Fairy Coin Chest, might be out of our patch yet and might anger flash bomb makers, but i belive farming pure water sucks and fairy coins are over populated now days, easy way to get some pet stuffs and random stuffs, always good for gold, and for newcomers its very attractive.
D) Fortune Tree... i hate to touch this point cause many and i mean many have some accounts cutting it and turns over populated... new players often doesnt have a great computer who can calculate all this 1,1,1,1 hits and display them on screen without frying.... not to mention the connection speed, lets say you summon a mob every 3 hours to kill this afkers .... a magma bullet stuff so players wont die in a flash but will if afk... in % so no fat guy think is smart enough.
E) Club, lv45 lv55 and lv65 very and i mean it VERY abused back in good old days, a simple measure can be putted, ingame interface to party the club members to level them, which means only club leaders and vice captains can open this, no room for voyager stuffs, in a special map for those who wish to use sand bags with high teleporter fee 50k lets say, and simple rewards, like 1 rum 5 rations and some other fool stuffs for lv45 lets say and exponencial rewards for lv55 -65, this will increase the characters levels, so some players who cant just play 24/7 or 12/7 can get a chance to have a high level character. This thing is crucial, measure to withness its not a 1 person full party like IP track, at least that wont leave the guy with all rewards and other players could feel the fresh air of leveling a little easier.
F) Award Center or some kind of credit rewarding thing for playing during a month hour time, or reputation system we all know it is abused, but we need players and players come when something shinny is into display, simple rewards of course to leave something for the item mall, and ofcourse this can make a good gold income for some players.
G) Introduction of Broken and Cracked Gems into mazes systems so demmand on refining gems increase drasticly, UGs could be a little harsh and good, never recomend to make them mall able for now, but at least increase the drop rate from NSS, OSS and CA. and simply said, we all know the explosive, spirit, lustrious and shadow gems are the only ones a little more usefull .... little changes in this ones to make them a little stronger could make gameplay more enjoyable and increase their worth... its sad to get one of those and simply NPC them after weeks of nobody buying in the stalls.
H) A grand Rewarding Active Players, Lets name it a daily mission, if you succed a 15 days chain get a good reward, as well for manufacturers cookers crafters, a daily quest to increase their tool exp, cause its a pain to level it too jeje.

a daily log in reward is a great idea, ;) its very easy for us to sit here and say change this or that guys,but I know its a fact the the game files on pko are very thin and very easy to break,i think that's why they don't want to do a whole lot of changing on this game,keep in mind also guys that when we say newbies 90% are alts so the amount of true real players are a lot less then we realize.

I agree ,for me mirage was key ,without mirage going past 70 will be much harder I believe,mirage needs to come back, and winter also, I realize not many are past 70 yet but its just a matter of time before many of us will want>need it.bag events are nice but they have to be set up for all lvs and have tons spawned or only a few top pts will lvl much
