Picking up items

Someone dropped a chest on the floor and left, and I couldn't pick it up (i.e. couldn't click on it or shift-click or use ctrl-A). I forget what chest it was but I'm wondering why I couldn't even click on the item is this something dictated on the client side?

In very rare situations, some items are actually "unpickable" it's typically due to bad item configuration, those items probably was once marked as untradeable, and because of that sometime they would be marked as unpickable as well.

FYI if you do encounter a item that's unpickable, take screenshot (showing the item on floor with it's name please)

It was Star of Unity Chest. You can drop it but cannot pick it up.
