Monopoly problem

IMO The best way to solve is by aggressively inviting your friends, force them to give this game a chance instead of prejudicial. Encourage your mates to mall a little bit, Participate your part helping out others as well helping out yourself becoming better. As the activity users grow, The monopoly problems slowly dissolve due to nature of activity going on.

Artificial solutions like preventive means or stimulating economy by giving away and boosting weak players will hurt more than help, It's better if you ask yourself how can I get one or two people to join this server because of me? What am I good with, Perhaps it is video producing, Perhaps it's streaming, Or even game-art, each creation attracts entirely different user bases.

I just realised that the server won't have mirage maps for a while. That mean, no reliable ways to get invocation blueprints, not to mention that it is extremely annoying to farm some ingridients with lvl 70 cap, so it means even less "peacefull" ways to catch up and also that voys will only have up to level 2 strike coralls, ouch.

Well, you could search higher lvl corals from Sea monsters drop lists, there is that too.

You do realise, that without mall item, rechargable battery, once strike coral expire, it is useless? And no monster in the game drop strike coralls, and i don't really care about lightning one, it does not expire as fast.

Yeah it sucks a lot, and i don't know if u can craft them in TOP1.

You can easilly get lvl 5 corals from mystic chests, farmed at lair 1 on cyborgs.

every time in top history was monopoly, and i remember at 2008/2009 having hundreds of ppl and also having this problem...
if you dont do anything for this, this server will die fast

In that case, then it's meant to be. This game got insanely popular cause it was unbalanced and monopolized to hell.
 
Would it be easy to lower guild limit from 80 to 50 players? @Zankza
Well, anything that's lowered to a decent amount is still practically the same, I doubt there will be just 1 or 2 OP guilds with many members, but rather many smaller, scattered guilds with a few dozen members at most.

Lowering it to a really low amount, such as 10 is not a good idea either, as was the case in FoxLv for a few weeks, because it simply makes communication harder, but you can create multiple guilds to fit all your chars/alts in them.

I have to agree with what xRazor said in some earlier posts, perhaps making mall more attractive and allowing people to catch up more easily via mall is a nice way to stop monopoly.

Lastly, I don't see how a monopoly could last for a long time, if it's on fairly even terms, a few guilds would probably exchange the "top spot", based on the timezone of the members, the current amount of members, levels, etc. I don't see how hard it is to end a monopoly where everyone uses really weak equips, and even those random newbies could prove to be useful to your guild.

What I think will actually allow monopoly is that some people will create one relatively good, organised, powerful guild, while the rest of the server will create many, many smaller guilds, which will refuse to unite with one another, and will stand no chance against the former guild.

So, as all of my points stated above, as well as common sense would imply, monopoly is something that's part of the game, and it's really difficult to change unless you want to bend most players backwards to accommodate a few players.

Let's face it, the community is both the problem in monopoly, but also the solution. There is very little that can be done about monopoly to actually preserve the old feeling of the game, which is what the vast majority of us are here for. It's something that the community can make or break.

Yeah, easially, especially considering how lvl 70 people will farm those stacks of mystic chests XD totaly worth to do it specificly for lvl 5 strike corals compare to just buying it from npc in mirage(lvl 3).

It was fun regardless of balance, not because of unbalance. There was hardly even 1 server that survived for long with minimum changes to keep it balanced and fun from original. The reason most/all of them died in the end, and i am talking about earlier days of private servers, wasn't because people quit cause they gave up. There was a cheating GMs, bug abuse, hacks, ddoss, bad internet, hoster don't want to host it anymore, all kind of stuff.
If this server only meant to awaken nostalgia feelings, sure, it will acomplish this, but if it is all it have to offer, it will die soon enough. It will last a year though, but that would be sad. Slightest changes would be great, but well, it was said at the start that it won't happen, so w/e.

@Leba i know that 80 would be enough for all my alts that i can use in dw, but 50 hmm, not so sure.
 
i started playing top after 1 year, around february, shortly after i joined angelic sea was released, that's where i made my home and i never saw any monopoly issues.. just the usual 2 top tier guilds with like 2,3 smaller guilds that could compete somewhat if most of the top guilds weren't on. the reason that top never really had any TOTAL monopoly is because there were so many different aspects to the game, hexathlon gave lower levels a chance to make money by selling hex items. then you had the people that cooked and crafted and sold items, they would sell their services or get the blue prints themselves and do it then sell it and we all know cooking was vital all those stat boosting foods like steam buns, BBQ shark fin etc. so lower level players always had some ways to get to a point of relevance along with malling.

seeing that this server might not be as big, it may not be the same soo... please, don't over monopolize early(though, when everyone can kill each other, that is kind of hard)

Ok, every server of top have a problem about monopoly and this is in part what kills a server, when one guild gets too strong most of the people start quitting because there is no more fun

any idea about this?

i think that every guild should have his own blackdragon but decrease the droprate from 1% to 5%... so everybody will have the same chances to have gems and also there wont be many gems out there

I think the problem about this is not actually the "monopoly" itself, it's the lack of effort the people put into the game, when they're behind or not in the strongest guild winning everything.
Most people play for a while, then they lose a few times and get bored and quit instead of trying to triumph/overthrow the opposing guild by working hard.
Theres probably not much you can do about those things, the ones who win, wanna keep winning, the ones who lose, probably wanna stop playing.

If there is something anyone of us can do, then it's not quitting when it becomes slightly harder, but work even more then.
I mean, in the past, browsing through forums, especially FoxLv, I remember people crying that Guild XY is monopolizing and GM's should do something about it or what not. That is not how it should work.

truly, people get lazy when a guild starts monopolizing i remember my guild on magic sea quit because the rival guild somehow got lvl 5 bd souls on everyone overnight and we couldn't kill them in ca anymore, because it's hard, pretty much impossible to improve when the only source is being controlled, there needs to be more than one source

thats the point. more than one source... nobody can fight against ppl with lvl 7/8 eye,soul, heart

I don't think we're gonna be so overpowered anytime soon.

i know, with lack of gear and the gem lvl cap it'll be slow moving but i'm just talking about when the times come where people start moving into the 2-3k max ranges
