First of all.
I came from Poland, my names Bartek, and I've been playing ToP1 in 2006-7(?) for a few years (don't remember exactly).

I was playing on Silver Sea (that's the last name I remember but I believe it merged few times)
I had few characters, mostly FC Crusader's, I don't remember my nicknames but I knew a few people. I do remember Rukh, and few people from FC/DW, but nothing else.

Well things have changed, I've finished school, and went to work.
Finally I've got some free time, I want to come back, but I have a couple of questions.

1. Is my English enough to consider talking to people? (I've learned it through this game, but I think I forgot a bit)
2. Will my workstation be enough for this game to run fluently?
Dell M6300
Core 2 Duo T9500
4 GB Ram
Quadro FX 3600m
3. Will my internet connection be enough?
I'll use my windows phone to share 4G LTE connection to my workstation, but it's slow, I think it's 2 mb download and 512 Kb upload, my ping to the nearest server in Poland is 50-60 ms.

I remember that ToP1/2 lagged hard, it was impossible to play sometimes and movement prediction was moving me from argent to silver mine(?).
If it's going to lag as it was, I don't think I'll be able to play this game ;/

For all answers id like to thank, I hope that we will meet someday in game :)

Thank You for fast reply, have a nice day.

I'll probably start game in Friday, I'll use the same nickname as this used in forum.

This game runs on any pc, thats created and bought after 1999!

Well. Not really.

I remember back in 2006.
I think i had Athlon XP based on Barton core overclocked hard on good motherboard with 2x 128 mb's of RAM with a dedicated GPU (Geforce 4 probably 440) and i couldn't say that this game ran fluently.

Though Im sure that it's I m p o s s I b l e that this game might run on Duron from 99' with very first IGPU made by intel.
Even Quake 3 was unplayable on that motherboard, and I believe that ToP/PKO is more CPU/RAM ?hungry?.

Later on I moved to a Centrino board with Intel GMA, it was even worse, animation's were performance killer, my character moved slowly on map and I experienced a difficulties, like I said before.

By the way, what's the specs of PC you're playing on?
Is it a desktop/mobile or workstation like mine?

Well. Not really.

...

i remember my very first pc being exactly one as you described back in 1998 and i could actually play ToP in that one (2007). it was really laggy in argent but otherwise it was... hmm, playable, maybe not fully enjoyable, but it was still quite playable. ToP as it consumes a very low ammount of ram and cpu. it was ToP2 that was ram-hungry and laggy no matter how good your pc was since that version of top was never finished to begin with.

Last Low End PC that I checked and supported v1.30 (the first PKO Open Beta) was an:
Intel 233 MMX running Win NT 4 with 64Mb or RAM and some Soft rendering Card, on game minimal settings.
I think that Hardware may turn 20 this year.

Well, finally i made it, i started to play on Wednesday and im a 29 lvl swordsman, game runs fluently with two clients running at once.

Though, I've changed CPU to C2E x9000 and overclocked it to 3.6ghz, the usage of sadly 1 thread is about 60/80%, the GPU stays cool even in Argent.

CPU runs at 55C in Andes but moves quickly to over 60 in Argent and my Dell kicks fans up.

There's one thing that I dislike, im using 1920x1200 screen and the game runs only at 1024x768 resolution.
It looks good but the text isn't exactly sharp and my eyes are bleeding while I try to read something.

Oh by the way, first 5mins of playthrough one player shared me 10k for basic skills and in the second 5 mins I've found a full 5 member well organized party, that's awesome that people are Soo kind in this server.

Im not experiencing any lag, I feel like I have a 100-200ms latency, it's far away from stable 30/60ms but it's still good for such a lame internet connection im using (currently HSPA+ 1mb download n half upload).

Oh by the way the 233mhz CPU You have mentioned must have been a Pentium II with MMX which was better in performance/clock than younger Pentium 4 CPU's which clocked up to 3 . 0 6 g h z. I've been using a Celeron which is... Was a piece of...
I think if you had a good MOBO and could OC that CPU then this PC could run this game fluently, though only 1 client due to lack of two threads and memory.

Im very disappointed that my boss forces me to work for 4 hours longer than usually this and next week, just a sec ago I received a mail that it's gonna be an Exp carnival from Monday to Thursday.
Though I like challenge, grinding is a main reason to play this game.

Same as always, have a nice day, and see You in game!

this is the kind of posts that make me love the community in this game. thanks a lot for sharing zgonan, I hope you have fun around! see you in-game :)

These are unofficial info and isn't confirmed by any tests, these are my thoughts and personal experience.

In my opinion to run 1 client perfectly stable on Windows 7 You need *at least*:

For mobile laptop/DTR:
For Intel CPU:
Don't go below C2D P9600/T9500, I really needed an upgrade...
For GPU:
-For ATI it should be at least Xpress 1300, the R3650 is though preferred.
-For NVidia it should be at least 8600m (older cards died for sure), but I would prefer at least Quadro NVS 160m or even newer 3100m.

For Desktop
For Intel:
Core 2 duo Series (excluding low voltage CPU's and older Pentium Dual Cores named C2D)

For AMD
Athlon X2 ( any revision including the 4xxx/5xxx+ series but I would prefer at least a Athlon X2 250)

AMD or NVidia GPU with at least 128mb *dedicated memory*
-For AMD even the old R9550 should be enough, but for NVidia it should be at least Geforce 6600 (no matter which revision)

Why these? It's obvious, they give decent performance in DX9 games, though Radeon is much, much slower than 6600, but the FX series from NV were a toasters and they give much worse results than Radeon, Soo we cant find any compare in NV portfolio, such strong card isn't really necessary, Soo if u ever find a working FX5200 with a 128mb dedicates memory, go for it.

If You're using a newer motherboard like S775/AM2 with a PCI-E slot, don't go below:
Radeon x1950 PRO
GeForce 8600 GT

For an Intel IGPU (no matter if desktop or mobile)
don't go below 4500mhd, it's not worth it, trust me.

As we all know, ToP/PKO is mostly processor dependant, Soo to make it easier for Yours CPU you should have at least 1GB of RAM (the more, the better), though I've never seen client using more than 700mb of RAM I would definitely go for as much as possible.

For an internet connection.
Well, it's not about speeds, it's all about latency, even though I've not tested it, I can tell that even 512kb simetric connection should be enough.
Just make sure Yours upload doesn't go below that value, it's really important.

BTW, ToP/PKO is just like WoW, You *can* play even with 600ms latency, it's all Yours preferences.

Remember, these all are *unconfirmed*, of course You can play on older CPU's/GPU's with lack of memory, but these will *for sure* handle the game, probably with two clients working at once.

Have a nice day, and see you in Game.

Actually typed from break at work, won't be untill until wednesday due to *some complications*...

By the way, entire team from my work sends their best regards from Poland to all those who's reading ;)
