Hello everyone! well since this section for cleric is completely empty and some people seem to still have doubts about pets, here's a guide about 'em. Hope you like it!

I still wish we had a specific section for only guides, though. Guides get horribly lost in the support zone.

Guides where I collected information:
http://www-tales-of-pirates.mforos.com/1451862/7409933-guia-aporte-de-las-hadas-fairys/
http://boyserver.forosactivos.net/t146-guide-como-conseguir-una-pet-segunda-generacion-xd

http://pirate.mmosite.com/guide/pet_guide.shtml
And my own knowledge about the topic.

~ ABOUT PETS
n1342.gif

Pets aren't just decorations you can wear to make your character look cool. Unlike wings, which have definetly no other use except to make other ppl drool in envy, pets give it's owner boosts in status and grant special bonuses, like increase in berserk rate, HP recovery, and so on.

Why should I get a pet? Maintaining a pet is indeed quite expensive, so let's list down the pros and cons of having a pet around.

Pros
1. Bonus stat points. Everybody wants bonus stat points. Besides having the best equips in the game, its a real boost to have those extra points.
2.
Pet skills. To be specific, the sp recov rate is a lot of help for spamming skills and magic. The berserk bonus is pretty helpful. The added magic damage is a plus too.

Cons
1. Pet maintenance. Keeping a pet is indeed pricey. You need to spend lots of gold to keep your pet up and running.
2. Time consuming. It takes a lot of time to level a pet. A LOT of time.

In summary, pets are for people who are willing to give time, effort, and GOLD to raise them. But in the long run, these little guys can be quite a lot of help.

~ Acquiring a Pet
n1341.gif

So where do we get Pets? Currently, there is one possible way to acquire them:

1.
Purchasing them in the Item Mall. Pets can easily be bought from the Item Mall for some Rum.

Note that acquiring a pet from this method will give you a Lv0 Pet with full stamina and growth rate. You may also acquire pets from other players, where they can be sold as freshly acquired Lv0 Pets, or ones that have been raised by other players.

All pets are basically the same, except in appearance of course. It's the owner who decides what stat to increase for the pet and which skill books to give it.

~ Equipping your Pet
n1338.gif

In order for you to 'see' your pet in the game, you need to place them on the second inventory slot. Only through this you will be able to make use of your pet's bonuses. An equipped pet will also consume stamina and increase growth rate(experience) points.

~ Stamina and Growth Rate
n0317.gif
n1351.gif

What is Pet Stamina? Stamina is sort of, a pet's 'HP'. But it doesn't mean that when the stamina gets depleted, the pet will 'die' or anything like that. When the pet's stamina reaches 0, it will simply be deactivated, meaning the pet's owner will not be able to benefit from the pet's bonuses. Also, you will not be able to see your pet floating around you when stamina goes dry. To replenish stamina, we need to use pet stamina recovering items, currently there are two items in the game for restoring lost stamina:

1.
Pet Ration - Restores 50 stamina points, can be bought from Item mall only.
2.
Pet Food - Restores 5 stamina points, dropped by Lv31 Vampire Bats from Silver Mine 1, and Lv15 Sailor Squirt at deep blue.

A pet consumes stamina in order to raise its
growth rate, or experience points. Each point of stamina is used every 60 seconds. Note that everytime a pet increases level, its max Stamina points will also go up.

What is Pet Growth Rate? Growth Rate is the pet's experience point. It is raised through consuming stamina points, so if you do not have any stamina points, your pet wont gain any exp.

Once a pet maxes its growth rate, you will see the yellow bar under the pet's stamina bar blink green, this indicates that you may then use stat fruits to grant bonus stat increase. Once you use a fruit on a pet, its exp bar will be brought back to 0 and its level increased by 1. You will then need to keep feeding it stamina items to use stat fruits on it again. Note that everytime a pet increases level, its Exp requirement will also go up.

The list below shows the Pet's Level and its corresponding Stamina/Growth points up to Level 5. (Although I am not absolutely sure, Stamina is raised by increments of 20 points per level, and growth points by 120*x where x is [Pet Levelx2]. This formula excludes Level 1 where the pet has 100/240 pts by default.)

Lvl-Sta/Gro
Lv0 100/240
Lv1 120/240
Lv2 140/480
Lv3 160/720
Lv4 180/960
Lv5 200/1200

~ Status Fruits and Skill Books
book.gif
n1350.gif

Stat Fruits. There are 5 different kinds of stat fruits that can be fed to a pet:

1.
Zephyr Fish Floss - increases ACC by 1.
2. Shaitan Biscuit - increases SPR by 1.
3. Argent Mango - increases CON by 1.
4. Snow Dragon Fruit - increases STR by 1.
5. Icespire Plum - increases AGI by 1.

NOTE: There are also great stat fruits, which will have the very same name with 'great' added. They raise double the stat points and level of the pet than normal ones (2).

These can only be fed to pets with Maxed growth rate.
Note that the higher a pet's level is, the lesser the chance for successfully gaining a level for the pet. If you fed your pet a fruit and your attempt in leveling it up failed, your growth rate will be cut in half. Pet level up can fail at any level.

Skill Books. There are 5 different skill books that a pet can learn.

1.
Skill Books - Can be purchased from Item Mall.

Learning skills also have chances of failure:

1. First skill book, success rate to learn = 100%

2. Second skill book, success rate to learn = 60%
3. Third skill book, success rate to learn = 30%

IMPORTANT: This means that the more skills you have taught your pet, the higher the chances of failing when trying to teach it a new skill. PLUS, when you try teaching the second skill, you have a 60% chance of success, and 40% chance of OVERWRITING AN EXISTING SKILL. Same goes for the third skill, you have a 70% chance of overwriting an existing skill.

~ The following is a list of the skill books that can be used to teach pets:

1.
Book of Protection - sort of like a Cleric's Energy Shield. When the player's HP goes down to 20% and below, the fairy takes the damage. Stamina damage is a percentage of the actual damage, the remaining percentage not blocked by skill will be received by player.

2.
Book of Berserk - player deals critical damage. This does NOT mean that a player's berserk rate is increased. Skill is activated by chance, the system chat box also displays if the crit/berserk was activated by the pet.

3.
Book of Magic - increases magical damage for Herbalist and Explorer class.

4.
Book of Recover - increases HP recovery rate.

5.
Book of Meditation - increase SP recovery rate.

A pet can only learn up to 3 skills. If the 3 skill slots have already been taken, you cannot teach a fourth unique skill to the pet. This means you CANNOT delete skills once you have taught your pet these skill/s. Teaching a pet skills do not require/deplete maxed growth rate, this means you can immediately teach all 3 skills to a Lv0 pet.

~ Frequently Asked Questions
n1345.gif

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

---
Do pets actively help you in the game?---

This is like,
"..do pets ATTACK?.." *scratches head*

No they don't, and they do not directly help you in battle in any way, except for giving useful bonuses for your stats and some useful petskills, like Book of Magic, which when learned by pet, raises Magic damage.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

---
Which skills should I teach my Pet?---

It all depends on what class you are using. Basically,
Magic users(Herbalist & Explorer Class) will need magic, recovery, and meditation. Non-magic users(Swordsman & Hunter Class) need berserk, recovery, and meditation.

What about Protection Skill? Protection skill has a lot of cons in it at the present. Since Protection reduces around 25% of damage dealt and deducts the points from the pet stamina, the remaining 75% goes to the player. Taking into consideration the price of Rations, it is inefficient to maintain such method of damage reduction by Protection skill.

Doesn't more skills mean faster depletion of Stamina? Yes it does. AND, faster stamina depletion will lead to faster pet leveling. You may say that having a pet with no skill will allow you to have your pet around for a longer period of time, but your pet's leveling time will also decrease, wouldn't it?

Can i unlearn skills that I've taught to my pet? No, you CANNOT unlearn or 'delete' an existing skill. But you can overwrite existing skills, or upgrade them.

Summary:

- Pet skill build depends on your character class.
- You CAN NOT unlearn pet skills, EXCEPT if they get overwritten by another skill.
- Your pet only learn a maximum of 3 skills.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

---
What type of pet should I have for my character?---

Basically, all pets are the same and its up to the owner to decide on what build of stat bonus and pet skill you want to have. Plan on how you can efficiently use the stat bonus that you will receive, be it a boost in offense or defense for your character. Skillwise, Book of Magic for Herba/Explorer class, Book of Berserk for Swordsman/Hunter class, then teach Book of Recover and Meditation, which most people do.

Summary:

- Pets do not have any special properties that comes into effect when equipped by a specific class.
- The owner decides on what stat and skills he wants for his pet.

~ Second Generation Pets
n1664.gif

Second Generation pets are those cool pets that you can get by marrying 2 normal pets you've got from fairy boxes. They look as the image shown above.

There are 8 types of second generation pets, which are shown in this table:

pEOsW8B.png

NOTE: Any of the Demonic Fruits can be bought from Item Mall for some rums, or you can buy them from other players.
~ How to make a second generation Pet
n1652.gif
x0017.gif
x0018.gif

Requirements:

-Both fairies must be level 20 or higher
-Pet's stamina bar must be full
-You should have the item requierements in your inventory for pets marriage
-Gold (it isn't a lot)

How to marry your pets:
-Go to Shaitan City NPC Langa (852,3549)
-Select the "Fairy Marriage" option
-Make sure to have all of the requierement items for your second generation pet
-Drag the fruit into it's correct place (the kind of fruit depends on what pet you're attempting to get)
-Drag both of your fairies to their places
-Confirm the screen that pops up and a new pet will appear in your inventory together with a Possesion Skill and a Self-destruction Skill.

Effects after marriage:

-Both fairies lose 4 levels each (This means, if they both were level 20 pets, both of em will be level 16 after marriage)
-The newborn second generation fairy will be 1/8 of the sum of both of the parents' levels. (Example: 2 lvl 30 pet [30+30=60/8] will give you a level 7 second generation pet)

To be able to use the pet skills:
-Fairy must be a second generation one
-Fairy must have a minimum of 100 stamina

~ Possesion Skill Book ("Poss")
n1490.gif

Once you marry pets, as I've stated earlier, will make you get one of these books. This book gives your character, NOT your fairy, the skill named "Fairy Body" (doesn't need skill points and it's saved in the Navigation Skills tab in your skills.

There are 3 levels of this skill: Novice, Standard and Expert.

One of the perks of having a second generation fairy is that, whenever you have it equipped, your character can use the Possesion skill.

What does it do? Your character begins glowing below it's feet with shiny colors, depending on fairy type. For example there's Mordo Jr, which Poss is purple. Fairy of Spirit will have a green Poss, and Fairy of Strenght will have a yellow Possesion and so on.

Along with this, your character will get up to 3 minutes of an extra stat coming from the fairy (unless it dies before the 3 minutes lapse has ended). However your pet DOES NOT increase it's level. This extra stat will depend on your fairy's type. Example:

Fairy of Strenght level 20, when you use Fairy Body (Possesion) it will give you +20 Str extra, no matter which stat it naturally has.

What does this mean? That the name "Fairy of Strenght" is not just a name. Same thing occurs with all of the other second generation pets such asFairy of Accurasy, Spirit, Constitution, etc.

Having this in mind, is the possibility of having a pet which type does not match its stats. It is possible to have a Fairy of Strenght level 20 which is all leveled up to Con. When you apply Poss to this one pet, you will get +20 str from this pet, but still will naturally have it's 20 con.

However Fairy of Evil, Fairy of Luck and Mordo Jr are different, since their natural stat will always be doubled during poss + it will trigger an special effect for each one of them:

Fairy of Evil = Double stats + Extra EXP rate (Formula: level of pet * 2% of EXP added. This means a level 30 Fairy of Evil will increase your EXP to x1.6 in Poss)
Fairy of Luck= Double stats + Extra Drop rate (Formula: level of pet * 2% of Drop added. This means a level 30 Fairy of Luck will increase your Drop rate to x1.6 in Poss)
Mordo Jr. = Double stats + Extra Drop rate + Extra EXP rate (it will give you BOTH of the effects exactly as explained above)

~ The costs of Poss
n1444.gif
n1723.gif

The only hard part about Poss is it's cost.
The usage of the Poss skill will cost you (every time you use it) some fairy stamina.

Novice Possesion: Level of pet * 6 stamina (Example: level 30 pet will use 180 stamina per Poss usage)
Standard Possesion: Level of pet * 3 stamina (Example: level 30 pet will use 90 stamina per Poss usage)
Expert Possesion: Level of pet * 2 stamina (Example: level 30 pet will use 60 stamina per Poss usage)

~ Percentages of getting Poss skill book
n1490.gif

When you marry your 2 pets, you have the following chances of getting the Poss skill book from these levels:

2 fairy Lvl 20 ~ 25
85% Novice Possession
12% Standard Possession
3% Expert Possession

2 fairy Lvl 26 ~ 35
90% Standard Possession
10% Expert Possession

2 fairy Lvl 36+
100% Expert Possession

Great guide, but don't Fairy of Evil and Luck only increase Exp and drop rate respectively, without doubling stats?

Always glad to share my thoughts. I've never had experience with those pets, other than FoxLv (where they didn't double stats), but that's 2.0 or higher, while this is 1.35-ish.
If they did double stats, I don't see why people would use fairy of str/agi/con, etc. (And those are the most-used pets here).
Simply because fairy of evil for instance would be a 2gen pet along with the added EXP bonus. I'm sure they don't double stats, but we'll need someone with those pets to confirm.

Fairy of luck doesnt give drop rate bonus but it gives critical hit chances. Molyio coded it wrongly. On foxlv the dev team fixed it. Im not sure they did it here

Geddon once said that they fixed it here. If that's the case, I don't see why it's not documented, so he might not have been serious.

No, I don't recall modifying fairies in any part including the possession code.

Also I think this topic should be in experience discussion too

In that case luck fairy only increases criticals then. Cheers

You should note what is the MAX level a fairy can go, but I'm not sure if pets fail to level at the same rate at level 39 level 6 for example (you said any level).
Isn't it harder the higher your pet is, even if it can fail anytime?

I think the highest chances of pet failing are around the levels of 12-20 or so. At least from my own and other people's experience. But I believe there exists a chance even on higher levels. People have mixed experiences about this, so it's hard to tell who's right.

My experience tends to be, other than sometimes in the low levels you say, MOSTLY after level 34. For me levels 36 to 37 or 38 have always failed the first try, and 39-40 (both options) towards 41 too, although I want to know for sure the max level.

hola luisa tu me podrias ayudar a crear un cleric fuerte gracias

Finally this guide in the correct section. It's a great guide and have been very helpful, kudos to Luisa.
I've always love your guide :D
