Races and Classes
For those who have never played Tales of Pirates before, there are 4 races (Ami, Phyllis, Lance and Carsise) and 4 basic classes: Herbalist, Explorer, Hunter and Swordsman.

Ami can become Herbalist and Explorer
Phyllis can become Herbalist, Explorer and Hunter
Lance can become Explorer, Hunter and Swordsman
Carsise can become Swordsman

Each of these classes become a more advanced class after lv40 and after completing a specific quest of the class.

Herbalists can become Clerics or Seal Masters
Explorers become Voyagers
Hunters become Sharpshooters
Swordsmen become Crusaders (Lance) our Champions (Carsise)

The Three Main Cities
To start, you need to kill monsters outside any of the main cities until you get lv9, after becoming lv9, you can go to the Newbie Guide of any of the main cities (Argent, Icicle, Shaitan) and choose the quest for the class you want to become.

The Newbie Guide of Argent is at the coordinates 2222, 2785 (to input coordinates, press Alt+R).
The Newbie Guide of Icicle is at the coordinates 1317, 506.
The Newbie Guide of Shaitan is at the coordinates 874, 3571.

If you wanna teleport between the main cities, you should go to the teleporter of each main city.

Teleporter of Shaitan 915, 3563
Teleporter of Argent 2187, 2776
Teleporter of Icicle 1324, 543

1st Class Quest
The Newbie Guide will give you the quest to change classes, all you gotta do is follow the instructions of the quest (to find your quests press Alt+Q). If you choose to become a Herbalist, the Newbie Guide will direct you to Shaitan to talk to Gannon. If you want to become a Hunter, you'll be directed to Icicle NPC Ray. Swordsman, Argent NPC Peter. Explorer, Argent NPC Little Daniel.

The quest to become Herbalist is a bit harder than the rest, you might want to ask for help to kill the mobs you need. People usually help with that.

Be sure to talk to the NPCs again after delivering the quests, these quests have more than one part (1st part: talk to the NPC of ur class, 2nd part: kill mobs, 3rd part: collect items, 4th part: go back to the NPC of ur class to complete).

After changing classes, you should go back to leveling. I will not explain what mobs to kill and where to go because there is already a Leveling Guide in Forum (you could also choose the level of the mob you want to kill and get its coordinates in mordo.info – a database with all items, mobs and NPCs of PKO).

Skill points
As you level up, you will get stat points (1 per lv, 4 extra every ten lvs) and skill points (1 per lv). I won’t suggest builds here, you can find that in the section of the forum destined for each class.

To use your skill points you will have to acquire skill books.

The skill books for Swordsmen and Explorers are in Argent 2230, 2730
The skill books for Hunters are in Icicle 1356, 484
The skill books for Herbalists are in Shaitan 840, 3587

Look for a build before distributing these points.

Supporting Yourself
In the beginning, to make money to support yourself, you should loot everything the mobs drop and sell to NPCs. Be careful, some items are worth more if sold to other players, such as New Sheepskin Scrolls (sold to other players for about 25-30k each) and Blurry Blueprints (sold to other players for 500g-1k each).

Some people make money by selling plvl. Those are usually Voyagers or high lv Sharpshooters/Crusaders.
Some people do manufactures/cooking/crafting. Each of these requires a specific guide. Basically, you open blueprints, collect the ingredients listed in the blueprint and manufacture/cook/craft the item. To do that you have to know more about the game, because most of the blueprints are shitty xD. It's better to get acquainted with the market before doing that.
Some people make money by opening New Sheepskin Scrolls. This is a treasure hunt. You may make money and you may lose money depending on how much you paid for the NSS. To open NSS you have to be lv40 or bellow and buy a boat in Shaitan (builder at 899, 3669). You have to enter a portal close to Shaitan Harbor (if someone has the coordinates, I'd appreciate it) and dock in the isle inside that portal.
Some people make money by selling Heaven's Berry (about 30k each). You get a HB when your characters get to lv20 and open the golden box that comes with the char.
You can also make money by using fairy coins in the Jackpot NPC in Icicle at 1302, 530 or selling the coins for 200-300g each.
You can also make money by attending PK maps: Forsaken City (lv30-45), Dark Swamp (Lv40-55), Demonic World (Lv50+), Chaos Argent.
Another way is by doing Story Quest. You can start the quest at Argent Newbie Guide (I don't remember the name of the quest, but something like "A mesage to the Secretary"). This quest gives money and items the further you complete it, as well as Life Skill Points, which you'll need to be able to Set Stall, Fish, Woodcut, Mine, Manufacture, Cook, Craft, etc (the life skill books are sold in the Grocery store of every main city).

Equipments
Up until lv40 we usually use the equipments given by the golden box every 5 lvs, but the best equips for those who are starting are the ones that come from chests of each class.

So you have Skeletar Chests (give lv30 equipments, 25% chance of giving armor, 25% boots, 25% gloves, 25% weapon). Skeletar chests are usually sold for about 10k each.
Incantation Chests give lv40 equipments. The price varies a lot, but it might reach 100k or more for Crusaders and Voyagers.
Evanescence Chests give lv50 equipments. Are sold for about 50k each, up to 200k for Crusaders and Voyagers.
Enigma Chests give lv60 equipments. They are sold for about the same price as Eva Chests.

Aside from Chest Equipment, we also have Unseal Equipments for lv35-45-55-65. They are usually better than Chest Equipments, but also more expensive.

Unseal lv35 equipments cost between 50-100k each (only armor and weapon, there’s no gloves or boots).
Unseal lv45 equipments cost about 800k-1m each (except for Crusaders, which can go up to about 4m).
Unseal lv55 equipments cost about 3m each (more for Crusaders. Unseal 55 is the only Lv of Unseal which also has boots and gloves).
Unseal 65 equipments are still kind of rare in the server, so prices range between 10m-40m depending on the class.

To compare the stats of equipments, you can go to mordo.info and type "skeletar" in the search bar and choose the Skeletar chest of your class, or type "unseal" and choose the Unseal for your level and class.

Fairies
Fairies are equipped in the second slot of your inventory. They can be fed with fruits (snow dragon fruit [str], shaitan biscuit [spr], argent mango [con], zephyr fish floss [acc], plum [agi]) that will add lv and stat to the fairy. The pet, like the char, has an "experience" bar and a health bar. The health bar of the pet loses 1 pt every 1 min, but the health can be gained back when you give rations to your pet (1 ration = 50 health points). The experience bar gains 1 point every minute the pet is equipped, when the experience bar is full, you can level your pet by feeding it the fruit of your choice. So if you have a lv0 pet full growth and feed it one snow dragon fruit, it will become a Lv1 pet with 1 added str stat.

This is just to give new players some pointers. Hope it helps.
