Hello Developer, Zankza, everybody

First of all, I'm sorry if I put rather controversial post title. I hope this post doesn't offend the developer, or anyone in general. It's been 3 weeks since the last restart before the GM finally need to restart again. I really appreciate it, as the duration in between server restart is usually 1 week.

I want to make a suggestion. As we all know (please correct me if I'm wrong), some people are not happy about the server restart because the notice is usually 5 minutes or 30 minutes beforehand. Back in TOP, if I'm not wrong, they also did server maintenance periodically. I don't remember if it was weekly or monthly. All I remember is that the maintenance caused the server to be off for 2 hours. Moreover, the GM usually put a notice, a really big one, in the news section of the website/forum several days before the maintenance. My suggestion is that the GM does the same before restarting this server. Even if the server is off for 2 hours, I think players will understand that server maintenance is needed to keep the server running smoothly and nobody will be unhappy just because they lose some HI Amp or nanas before server restart (do they?). Just make sure not to do it on Saturday or Sunday :D.

I don't really know what is going on in the server and I also understand sometimes the GM needs to restart server immedately because of emergency. Also, I'm new here, so I don't know if the GM has done this before and somehow it didn't work as expected. It's just a silly suggestion to make everybody happy playing PKO. (need a comment here :D)

Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback.

We don't usually need maintenance and soon will not require them for more reasons. We typically restart in each two weeks as you noticed, once it's past 17~ days things start to act strange. But no worries, the reason why those binaries act strange is because they rely on something called timer and by old architecture 32-bit meant the timer would run out of time, good news is that our new game binaries are rewritten in 64-bit for more better security and possible performance benefits.

We rarely restart, and spend more time haggling alerts/notice/babysitting upset players than doing restart itself, and so have stick to principle that, if you don't make it big deal it wont be big deal.
