In order to tank mobs, you need a good defense and a good PR.
Getting a high defensive is really hard unless you are a champ or a con SM
while getting a high PR only needs +30 pr armor with few bd souls and pr neck

Physical resistance is used to tank physical attacks (...) not magical attacks.

1 PR equals to 1% of the total physical damage taken reduced, it being the maximum working PR at 85.

Example: a 10,000 damage slash does it's full damage in a target that has 0 Physical Resistance (10,000) while that very same slash will only deal 7,000 damage in a target that has 30 PR (30% of damage reduced).

Any physical attacks will be reduced that way, including mobs attacks and of course, defense and level difference are equally important to properly tank too.

Note: no, magical attacks such as conch ray, lighting bolt and spiritual bolt are NOT affected by PR. Spiritual bolt is exclusively affected by level difference and rebirth passive skill, and conch ray / lighting bolt are exclusively affected by rebirth passive skill.

That'd be pretty hard to tell, since Defense uses a complicated math formula, oposed to the simpleness of the percentage usage in PR, and most people who know me, know pretty well how bad I can be at maths xD

All I can tell you personally is that PR is way more relevant when it comes to tanking, thats why BD soul is the most expensive gem you can ever get (and it also being the only gem that can actually boost your PR).
