Today I attempted to test how profitable buying an using
New Sheepskin Scroll
was when dealing with a semi-large quantity. The cheapest I could find on that day was 25k each which allowed me to buy 64 NSS for 1.6m. 20 nss in and I already had over 1.4 m in cash because I managed to get over 100k six times in a row two of which were 200k. Blinded by my incredible luck I quickly bought more NSS and brought my total amount of NSS to more than a stack.
What followed next was extremely bad luck like being hit by traps several times in a row or being teleported after opening just a few NSS. 20 NSS in and all I had was 260k after selling crap drops to the npc. My poor luck persisted for about another 20 NSS after which I was beginning to get the occasional money drop but I was still in the negative numbers. Finally near the end I managed to bounce back with a 4x in a row good money drop giving me around 600k and soon followed by another 190k drop.
In conclusion: I made 1.1m profit after using 120 ish NSS but I was very close to wasting my time and money doing this. It was a bit time consuming and at times really infuriating after my luck did a complete 180. Another player on the gulf island had bad luck most of the time making very little money from his stack of nss. From my experience I wouldn't recommend buying NSS for over 25k as even that seems to be pushing luck. Also if you are going to do this, use a hunter with windwalk, it makes things a bit faster. I probably won't do this again despite making profit as I view it as too big of a gamble.
