Tried to change your compatibility settings yet? Also how bad is the lag or is it more like glitch instead?
Sometimes if it's not on the compatibility for your pc is could cost extreme lag and also this setting can improve the game a bit too; For me running it under window 7 makes my PKO game laggy but for Windows XP service pack it does not so try to play around with your settings. Also make sure you limit to how many things you have up(the basic stuff like tabs and shit).
