News Grand Hexathlon

I was quite surprised that few topics are not being hyped up already around the forum, Hexathlon is one of those topic. Today I am here to discuss about this incredibly powerful game feature which TOP had introduced later years and exploded into bigger user-base.

For those who are unfamiliar with Hexathlon, It's an series of quests that grants enormous EXP by finishing those lucrative tasks. There is total of six quests, For every other quest you finish, You obtain EXP but it is not until when you have finished all of the six where you receive the biggest lump sum of EXP.

When I dreamed of this server, It became obvious that the 1.3 era was truly best feeling of all, the 2.x era felt something lost, long ridden many good enjoyable parts of games, and so, with hardcore mode enabled, I am actually stuck in between of idea. Hexathlon is truly 1.3 feature but isn't hardcore feature at all, Due to the fact EXP inflation it creates.

And so I have come to this conclusion that Hexathlon was first originally treated as "event" and we will be continue to purse Hexathlon under events purpose, Meaning the Hexathlon will be open and activated by GMs every once while and now permitting some "snacks" for those burned out players to enjoy the game just little bit.

Hexathlon typically runs at Saturday, For approximately three hours twice a day. However, it won't be running every other weekend, Instead will be used as tool for events by GM. Should the game feel stalled or require economy stimulate, We will announce and activate hex weekend.

Sounds good, as I had mentioned in another thread concerning Exp events (But what I said there is obviously applicable here), there should be no scheduled event for anything. If you make an event during, say, weekend only, then they won't have a reason to level up during the week days, as it's obviously way faster during the event. Think this was a great decision and I'm all up for it.

Just a question, will the Exp remain the same?

Would be good if that won't happen for at least half year or so. =D

how do we get catch Super candy stick?

It has some way to get this quest item with or without item mall ?

@Zankza

Thanks

why ? add on Fortune Tree 0.10% drop please very good for newbies

Super Candy Sticks were only obtainable from Item Mall or Reputation Exchange shop in real ToP. Nobody ever had difficulties getting them, as people would usually sell them cheap cause they did cost very small amount of IMPs. But things like some Fairy Rations, Standard Pet Fruits, Super Candy Sticks, like 2-3 apparels for each class seems like perfect things to add to Reputation Exchanger if one is implemented ( and I totally think it should be).

I guess most of you people are missing a point. Candy sticks are not actualy one of the original hexa requirements. They updated hexa, it used to be pink pearls before the candy sticks. It might still require Pink pearls instead of candy sticks.

Zankza has said Candy Sticks will be required and they will be only mall-obtainable. And pink pearls with these rates would be such a pain in the ass... That's why they actually changed them to Candy Sticks I believe. Also - Why would developers/owners miss an option to cash in on Candy sticks from mall? lol

Item Mall only.
I really like the idea that Hexathlon will be in the game, and I also like that you're considering the Super Candy Stick to be Item Mall only, it will attract more people to mall, also tickets to silver mine and such will probably be consumed and again increase the malling on the server.

But I think Hexathlon should be handled with care since the exp it provides is really big on early levels and it will maybe lead to people not leveling in the regular way since it's slower.

This sounds like a very good idea.
But I also feel like, if Hexathlon is activated as an event, you should make a "Maximum Use" per event on the characters.
I remember back in the days I managed to do around 30-35 Runs of Hexathlon in 3 hours, and for the second Hexathlon during night time I managed to do just as many again (maybe a couple less due to exhaustion XD).

On lv70+ 1 Hexa Run provides 3% exp, so that way you would effectively get two levels out of 1 weekend of hexathlon (Ofc if you manage to get that many runs)
Ofc you'd have to consider that you will need the items (Sashimi, Wood, Iron Ore, Candy, Elven Signets) but they can easily be farmed or malled which is not the point of it.

you should make a "Maximum Use" per event on the characters.
I don't feel like this is necessary. If you're able to do that many runs, that's quite commendable, as it requires a lot of organisation done beforehand, lots of items (Yes, the trio of lifeskill-obtained items is quite easy, but Candy sticks and signets exist as well), and not being KS'd/using lots of tickets. It does add up, and if you're able to put a lot of effort to be able to do so many Hexa runs, you should be rewarded for it.

Also, Hexa seems like an event where newer people will be able to slightly catch up to the older players, simply because Hexa gives more exp on lower levels (doh), so basicly, I don't think anything needs to be changed here. High effort for high reward should stay.

I just feel like we should avoid that "malling your way" through Hexathlon should be limited.
Tickets, Candies are mall items and even the lifeskill items you can buy by selling IMP.
That way you spend mall points and get big reward, whereas someone without so much mall will not benefit so much.
I feel like Hexathlon should be an even matchup, or at least as even as possible.

I think that you can get Super Candy Sticks from Cooking as well btw, but I do agree on the fact that it should be even, but do remember that malling should give you an advantage, malling should always make the game easier for you, when it comes to Hex, it shouldn't be a massive advantage, but it should still be there. And honestly, Candies are the only way malling benefits Hex DIRECTLY, trading Imps for other items (Lifeskill items in this case) has absolutely nothing to do with Hex. I don't see the problem here honestly.

While I think candies are a good alternative, I do think having Pink Pearls is quite the nice thing.
It provides opportunity for those who want to farm and make money by selling the pearls.
But if we were to decide to implement Hex with Pink Pearl, the botting issue needs to be entirely solved.

Not only would farming Pearls require a large amount of time, but I also don't like Items which you can just stack up on before the event to be a requirement for the quest (i.e. you farm up X amount of Pearls so you're settled for when Hex arrives). But I do think that an alternative way of obtaining Candies should be added (IF they're not obtainable from cooking), perhaps they could be given out as a random reward from certain tasks, events, forum/video events maybe? (if there will ever be any)
Not everything has to be strictly obtainable in-game or from farming, there's a variety of solutions.

Yeah Events should be implemented.
Zankza opened a thread to create Videos for Server or searching for artists for the server.
This could be done through forum events and people can obtain different things e.g. Fairy Rations, Fruit, or IMP or any other thing to attract people to participate in such events and the 3 best participants will earn a reward.
Candies could be one reward in an event.

I think events in which the server itself benefits alongside its players are really good events.

There's already posts, but it seems like it's voluntary, and no rewards are to be given (at least not yet). Anyhow, the "Video/Forum events" was just a random suggestion. There's plenty more possibilities as to how the Candies could be added as an Item not exclusive to the Item Mall. But then again, it all depends on the frequency of Hex and if people would be willing to sell the Candies or exchange them for other Hex necessities, think it's far too early to implement anything Candy-related.

As for the Events, I would more than anything love if the Forums became a more lively place, with a ton of possibilities (Mainly "Writer's Cafe" and Events), but that's something for which we first need a bigger playerbase, more forum sections; to put it short, we need more time and players.

May have wandered a bit into the off-topic zone, but to summarize my points throughout the few posts which I've made; I don't think Hex should be touched right off the bat, waiting to see how it will turn out if it's periodic and see if it requires any changes is a much wiser idea if you ask me.
