FUSION CATA WHAT FOR?

recently, i have fused my lv45unsfusedtochopstick+2spirit gem to bot+12. It lost its gem. Is it normal or what's the use of fusion cata if the gem is still gone?

Potion, the Ingredient 1 was Uns45 fused to chopstick+2 spirit gem. Ingredient 2 was bot+12.

it doesn't "merge" in that concept, everything on item 2 overwrites everything on item 1 except for "apparel"

So yes, you lost the gem, because it was inside the fusee not fusioneer.
