Hello everyone, I am CocoPuff. I've been playing versions of this game for quite some time now,so it's safe to say that I have my fair share of history with the game. I've recently made the decision to come to PKO and I was very excited to start on this version, which I still am, because I believe in PKO. After 2 weeks of grinding hard to level (No PLvl), and to make $$$, I've began to notice/connect many things that I felt were minimizing the enjoyment/satisfaction of the game.

First and foremost, I would like to make a statement about the current economy of PKO, from my perspective of being fresh eyes, which is an economy that lacks balance between Consumer/Buyers and Marketers/Sellers. I know that everyone is trying to make money and that is completely understandable, but it is also because we are trying to save money, that we do not buy. Thus, the market does not sell and circulation of gold is hard to come by. ------Sad thing to say is that I have not thought out any solutions to possibly balance the economy where their are equal amounts of Buyers & Sellers.

This next topic may be a little greedy/selfish because it is something that would benefit me from a multitude of ways in-game. The this topic is More GEMS such as the Broken, Cracked, and Chipped. I fee like the state (in-game situation) that I am now, one possible way for me to become better with a huge dose of enjoyment is the ability to forge. For many of us long timers, we know that it is a bad investment to forge Fiery/Furious and that the best gems to forges are the UG Gems. Problem is the price for UG Gems are astoundingly high and difficult for New Comers/Low-Mid Tiers players to get their hands on. This is why I suggest the weaker versions of the UG Gems because it is can be much more affordable and still gives the excitement/enjoyment of gemming/becoming stronger. Another benefit of having weaker gems out on the market is that the levels (rates) of consumers will rise and that will stimulate circulation, but it can also chain effect other areas of the game. For example that forging for newbies to Mid-Tier players are becoming more common, that means that Refs and Gems will be in demand ---meaning that FC/DS is a plausible avenue to make $$$.

This is all I was able to think of in my short half hour reflection on this game. I really do enjoy this game because it has provided me a lot of fun and honest grinding that I have forgotten about. Yet, all of this is my personal opinion and I do not care if you agreed with me or not, but I would like the comment section to be for constructive criticism on my ideas whether to improve or possible discussion for other ideas that players may have.

Well said m8!! Big thumbs up!

This is a very tricky avenue to discuss because it is the most important feature about this game. I think the original developers knew nothing but greed, so they made ToP revolved around spending real money to pimp out your character. They really nailed the cool effects in this game and gave plenty of incentives for people to spend money. So I want to say that a large player base in official servers were definitely mallers, but there were definitely many non-mallers.

I never malled in ToP and I wanna say that Cracked, broken, and chipped gems were definitely exciting to forge, because they were at a reasonable price. This allowed me to use a mechanic of the game and enjoy it more,

But my main concern is this:
Look at it from a regular player's perspective.
I personally have Just finished acquiring the basic FC Crus set. Costing me a total of 11mil. (BoIs, rings, neck, etc) (Haven't even started leveling a pet)
And it took me a month to get that much. Once I go into FC, what is my experience going to be like as a new player? Are the drop rates fair? Will I get pkd by some other guild every time I land on the shores? Is FC dead? If it is then what have I spent all this time for? What do I do next, just afk in argent?
A lot of the in-game population are afks and I just want more things to do in this game. I think it's a huge problem.
I'm just rambling at this point, let me know what you think.

This was also apparent to me when I started playing, its slightly jarring looking at unsealed 65 going for 20m and fairys going for 45m and then at your money pouch of 100k.

In saying that, I can appreciate those players who are able to control the prices (like monopolise CA items etc) have put in A LOT of work and or money to get where they are.

So far i've sold most things i've placed on stall. I dont think that market circulation is that bad. Pros get the cool shit, we noobs wanna buy the cool shit. And then noobs farm consumables and stuff, which pros use a lot of. And i dont think that adding cracked and chipped is a good decision, i'd rather have the bosses in the mazes have a higher chance of dropping UGs

Generally 'Noobs' don't go to mazes, mazes require better items and PK. Even most FC players have better items then some 50-60s and that's the lowest maze.

From my stalling experience (selling tickets and hbs and cbs) I've almost always sold everything. But I wouldn't be so sure about other items people farm so it's hard to say.

Also I wanna say that cracked and chipped gems definitely will take away from the rarity of an actual UG--possibly decreasing its price. But would that be such a bad thing?

I think coco was right when he said that if we bring more affordable gems then ref gems will be higher in demand because the low-mid tier players will start using them more. This will probably drastically increase the cost of a ref gem, but one possible solution would be to increase the drop rates.
From the database it says 0.08% for a ref in fc. I think that's a tad too low, especially since people only sell it for 400k?

Still dont want it. I can see a class benefit this. The one with two wepons.

It doesn't matter because they will either use broken cracked chipped or ug
They can't use two at the same time.

So either price of ug will drop or price of broken cracked chipped will get insanely high

ye, its so dificult to get UG Gems in top for low- mid lvls and Top Chars sell it at a high price thats insane, for new player who want to enjoy this game.

Did you know we had discussion about this?

My suggestion was to make the cracked and broken gem into same class as UG, meaning you can only forge one of those into your equipment (cannot be forged together)

https://devxf2.piratekings.online/forum/threads/wild-idea-gem-choices.3821/

I believe that if you made broken, cracked, chipped, and UG gems socket-unique then there will be a price difference if they weren't socket-unique.

So let's say we were allowed to forge all 4 into our weapons(we only choose 3 of course) , the broken gems would definitely be the cheapest. So if a person forges a broken gem he sill has the option to forge other gems.

Now let's say you can only choose one: If a person forges a broken gem, then that would be it for that specific UG. What does this mean? I think it means that the price of a broken gem in this situation will be drastically lower than the price of a broken gem in the first situation. Why would anyone even care about a silly broken gem when there are cracked and chipped gems.

Well maybe because there may be an incredible price gap still:
In this very situation, there are factors that affect the price of the gem:

1: Its drop rate
2: how accessible it is to players (will only DW players be able to farm it, or will FC and DS players be able to get it as well)?
3: the very fact that you can only choose one type of that gem to forge

So my guess is: if the drop rates and accessibility of each gem type (cracked, broken, etc) isn't properly balanced, then there will still be the astronomically high price difference between these gems, just like the difference betweeen a ref gem and a UG

But wait, wouldn't a high price gap be reasonable if you can only choose one?
I don't think so at all, that's the very situation we are in right now and I believe that having the option to forge them together is still better.
If we're allowed to do this then that possibly means a lower price gap between different types of gems, albeit slightly higher prices for them because they are all useful.

I believe that having the option to forge them together is still better.
I've read your whole post and you do make some good points regarding how this would fit into the whole economy and I do agree with you to some extent, but I think giving people more ways of obtaining base stats is a big no-no, especially since some classes will benefit more from this. (i.e. Cruz could forge them in 4 items, magics could in 2 only)

I think you're getting into a class-balancing related issue. But this is indeed how the game was created, and it was obviously not made by the most intelligent design and programming team. Although this is interesting to discuss, I want to say that weaker gems wouldn't be on my top ten list to make this game more enjoyable, that's for sure.
But I do want to requote something I said earlier that I think is important:

+1 there should be alot more then a grind fest which I'm sure there is but that portion of the game isn't ("easily") accessible to newer players so people lose interest.
