COMMERCE

Is it still worth it to try commerce?
You can try to measure success by amount of gold you have at end of the day, but after few days it's quickly becoming much more about than that. Sea commerce possibly can grant you serenity, or it can force you to learn more about more new. There is always draws back and benefits to everything.

Well, anything that grants sure gold is worth doing, no doubt about that, but I think it takes A LOT of effort for your tax rate to drop, and even when it's sufficiently low, the income probably won't be anything spectacular, and the amount of time you invest in it is probably better used elsewhere. Though really, Commerce is something that hasn't really been explored a lot in ToP I guess, as the Internet only has a few decent guides, but even those are vastly outdated and there's no real information on efficiency.

I'd pass, but you can always give it a try, perhaps it's not that bad.

Yes, there's a few ships with a few hours respawn time in Treasure Gulf which drop basic gems and Refs. You can make a nice profit out of it if you sell Lusts (900k-1m) and Refs (300-400k) from it. Although it's highly contested and the people who salvage them are on-point. Though if you can contest it and devote some time to it, it can be profitable.

commerce is ok, I think. ;) And im doing it.
The only enemy on doing it is laziness and boredom. And oh, pet dont level much because you are always at sea, obviously. So you need an alt to pass your pet while you are doing commerce. Also, as what Leba said, dropping tax rate is tedious... I only made it to Lv2 Permit (Midlevel Commerce) 20.10% tax, I have no plans of lowering it anymore.
