switch equipments via skillbar

I know there is a kind of buggy workaround that lets you put an equippable item onto the skillbar, however it only works once, then you have to set it up again. I want to put a ring on f12 for example and when I press f12 it equips the ring and puts the now unequipped ring on f12 again, enabling me to switch items quickly in pk without having to menu around in the inventory.
