Laura won first place with 1.24 second video when the rules stated 2min-3min

you disqualified others for breaking the rules you set but let this one slide and win.

please no double standards and... I think because of this "mistake" you should reward all participants of the event with some rum... or remove Laura of the winners.

Peace no hate.

@Zankza

Rules

Read carefully

I totally agree with this player. I myself contacted GM regarding this favoritism and he brushed it off. Shit like that (favoritism) is what also cause servers to die, and many of us wonder why so many of the players in high level are leaving.

He locked the player's @PanMilan thread as he didn't want it to take off due to it being 100% truth what a shame soon this one will be locked as well however the eyes of many of the players will be opened despite the favoritism going around on this server.

To add my few cents...

I liked the Laura's video the most aswell, and I think (only my thoughts there) that it was far superior compared to others ( everyone did great job tho, this is just MY taste). However... The rules were set and they were strict. And Laura's video couldn't even participate on this event by rules you provided by yourself..

What I would suggest - Atleast make an explanation on why Lauras video has won. Explain to people that it WAS THE BEST one, even though it didn't hit into the rules you made.

And award everyone else with prizes they should get as 1st place, 2nd place etc. yet still let Laura keep her 500rum aswell, as she did a terrific job and is choosen as winner.

The point is she didn't win this event, as she shouldn't be able to even participate with video she has made for us, yet it was so great I agree she should get same prize as winner of the event.

People forget that it takes a long time to choose video footage and an even longer time to "edit" the video.

So the difference in producing a 1min clip compared to a 2-3min clip is HUGE

If everyone had a fair chance to produce a 1min video like Laura did... then I am sure the standard and quality of the video's would've been drastically increased.

That's why I made the thread. Laura produced a great video... she should "maybe" get the honorable event prize, but even then her video did not meet the "requirements" that Zankza set and disqualified other participants. (some of them should've won first and second place)

I was told that some of the participants did get rum..the ones that did not qualify...even though it seems zankza just brushed away my thread. So all is good.
(I think)

Rules are there to be followed, especially during events. Lets try to keep it fair from now on, okay zankiii? <3

You should not judge without knowing what you're talking about, I'm pretty sure my video took more editing and longer to make than most of the videos that last 2 to 3 minutes. Even if it's short there was a lot of footage I recorded that was not included, as I had to fit all the content to go with the music and the sound, and the text animations which I did by hand, no presets. It's not like I was lacking content and said, oh I'm gonna make the video shorter I don't want to add more footage. I made the video this short IN PURPOSE, because I thought the video would be best this way. I have footage of HOURS of gameplay.

Not to mention most of the videos just threw in meaningless footage, longer clips and content to make the video last longer.

I don't like bragging, but I think my video was one of the highest quality, best edited, most aesthetic and concise from all the participants, I just went straight to the point, and I think I deserve the prize even if I didn't add 30 seconds just for the sake of it.

Good God, no one is saying that your video was not good. You are missing the point!!!

Rules are a set of explicit or understood regulations or principles governing conduct within a particular activity or sphere.

It does not matter what you think. What you think is your opinion. Rules are rules and GM should not disqualify some and not others. That is favoritism of the highest standard.

Rules are there to be followed and its penalties should apply to all and not some.

I was answering to PanMilan saying everyone would have made much better quality videos if they made 1 and half minute instead of 2, implying I didn't work as much as others.

PS: I get why you're pissed, rules are rules, but maybe Zankza deemed that some rules are more important than others, or decided that my video not lasting 30 seconds more is not a big deal compared to not putting the url of the server in it, or handing a video in after the deadline, he should have clarified that but I don't think he did it with malice.

First and foremost, you need to understand the goal of the event was to produce best video content to promote the game, you guys are now fighting about the length of the video but not the quality of the content.
Reason why laura won :
  • Great editing
  • Well done screenplay
  • Good use of Typography
  • Use of Motion Graphics
  • Storyline
All the above are the reasons for a quality content. Amount of work put into the video is far greater than what people perceive it to be. Other videos which showed some of the mentioned qualities were LuisaRlz and Zooyork. Please understand her video is really great for promoting and i definitely do not see any favoritism as some people mentioned. Please do not fight over this petty issue, rise above the nature of the issue.

Yes the video was good noone is denying that, but you can't expect to enter competitions, not follow the rules and come out a winner. The message being sent by that is very wrong.

And the corruption continues, no wonder there are no great private servers nowadays. GMs bend and break the rules as they see fit. No server is truly fair and contains no corruption with such unjust persons governing them.

First of all, Thanks for bringing your concerns here at the forum so everyone can discuss.

Good news is that next time I host such event I will make it explicitly clear that staffs reserve the right to disqualify and qualify event entrants as we see right. I'm sorry you felt the law is extreme law, but the truth in this world, even with law, you are still guilty until proven otherwise by peers in a court. In the contrary, the laws are guideline and principle of remediation why laws were made first place, so the peers can ultimately decide if guilty or not.

The time minimum was to ensure the entrants would be not carelessly and placed some simple video clips, Laura here have demonstrated an excellent video combining of warm elements such as timing, plot, and special effects.

Ultimately, the video is not FOR me, it is for everyone else to check out so they may consider to download and create a character in this server, My choices are not favored for Laura but favored for server's future. I'm sorry you guys felt betrayed, It is not always easy to make the right choice even when everyone else is blindly so profound to a law.

BTW have you guys considered becoming lawyer? It seems that you guys are really damn good at making points, deliver a bullet memoir, and to twist the words against back ourself. If becoming video producer is not doing out well for you, Maybe consider a path to lawyer.

lel please whats with that nonsense, you realized long before the event finished that some people didn't follow the requiremnets you set and commented about it.
Then when lusia questioned you on it... you just ignored it until the end of the event and disqualified the true winner + other participants. Quality or not you cant just throw away the trash... we're in 2016, trash can be considered as gold in some cases.

And Lusia's video was far from "simple" so the fact that your "reserve the right to disqualify and qualify event entrants as we see right." Rule didn't qualify for that video just means that you had this planned all along.

So coming out with stuff like you should become lawyers.. dude seriously LOL.. and meh whateva..

Actually Luis' was very good, it's shame she didn't add URL into the video (which is arguably the MOST F* important of the whole damn thing)

AGAIN: This event is to promote and bring more players, if I see a problem with video that constitutes not being effective LIKE NO URL!

If you really had the server's future in mind.. you didn't have to ignore and told her + others what they did wrong. The fact you ignored them and not the fact that Laura's video was shorter... even though you admit the video was really good yourself is what is wrong here.

Edit: I'll just add this here... a professional organised video is good.
But don't forget that those video's might convince a lot of people to join but most of the player base here are not professionals. So including a very simple and not organised "true" winners of the event requirements you set is not a bad idea. People like to see pro things but people also like to see simple things. And it would've been a better choice to just add both Laura's video to your Winners page + the true event winner's video, rather than bending the rule for one participant and not others.

Anyway I've said enough :D Don't take it too personally zankiii <3

OMG loooool look at the IQ of this dude. We are not making a point we are stating a fact. Rule #2 was very clear so there was no misconception there.

Rule #2 says and I quote:
"2. Video Content must include at least two minutes but no more than three minutes length"

Was the "so called winner" video at least 2 minutes? No. That is a FACT. Bend the rules some more GM, that is the type of governance that produces bent servers which leads to players leaving due to their inability to keep their faith in those governing servers to do what is fair and just to create a great gaming experience as all respect is lost for those governing the server with double standards.

I was a contestant and I did not mind losing. Hell, who cares if contestants lost, you can't win everything, but it is just sad to see that you disqualify who you feel should not win to let who you feel should win, win. I am quite sure many players will lose respect for those governing this server after that unscrupulous stunt with video event.

Anyways that is that, rules bent nothing no one can do about it.

Hitler has spoken.
